DuPont Fabros Technology’s server farms corral a lot of data. The company owns, develops, operates, and manages 12 wholesale data centers -- the facilities that house, power, and cool computer servers for such technology companies as Facebook, Rackspace, Microsoft, and Yahoo! Other tenants come from the media, communications, health care, and financial services industries. Organized as a real estate investment trust (REIT), DuPont Fabros is exempt from paying federal income tax as long as it makes quarterly distributions to shareholders.
