The York Water Company
The York Water Company goes with the flow, as long as its water flows primarily within York County, Pennsylvania. The regulated water utility distributes more than 18 million gallons of water daily to 39 communities in York County, and to seven communities in nearby Adams County. It serves about 62,200 residential and business customers in a service territory with a population of 180,000. York Water obtains its water primarily from two reservoirs that together hold about 2.2 billion gallons. It gets an additional 12 million gallons of water per day from the Susquehanna River. The company was founded in 1816 and is the oldest investor-owned utility in the US.
