The company (whose name derives from a Greek term about water and roots) makes fluid-handling and related products for treating and recycling wastewater. It operates in two divisions: Water Infrastructure and Applied Water. Water Infrastructure makes pumps, treatment and testing equipment, and controls and analytical instruments, while Applied Water offers pumps, valves, heat exchangers, controls, and dispensing equipment. Xylem's products are sold under about 40 different brands, including Flygt and Goulds.
