Washington Prime Group (formerly WP Glimcher) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on shopping centers. Formed by the spinoff of 98 properties by retail property giant Simon Property Group in 2014, Washington Prime owned and managed about 55 strip centers and 44 smaller enclosed malls in about two dozen states. Washington Prime acquired Glimcher Realty Trust, also a retail REIT, in a deal valued at $4.3 billion in mid-2015. The combined company boasts a total of 119 retail properties spanning 68 million sq. ft. of leasable area. Tenants include Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Macy's, among other retail chains.
