Virtual Radiologic Corporation
Virtual Radiologic diagnoses from a distance. The teleradiology company, also known as vRad, offers remote diagnostic imaging services, interpreting diagnostic scans made by radiology practices throughout the US. It transmits the images and results to more than 2,700 health care facilities over a secure broadband network using proprietary workflow management software. Virtual Radiologic operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and reads images made by a number of modalities, including ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Virtual Radiologic was taken private by Providence Equity Partners in 2010.
