VeriSign, Inc.
VeriSign gives directions to land safely on the Internet. The company is a big part of what makes the Internet work. It operates two of the world's 13 root nameservers, which assign Internet protocol (IP) addresses to devices communicating across the Internet. VeriSign is also the only issuer of the .com and .net domain names that are sold to users by companies such as domain registrars Go Daddy and Register.com. The company also provides network infrastructure services, providing hosted cyber intelligence, managed domain name systems (DNS) availability and resolution, and hosted monitoring and mitigation against the dreaded Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. More than 60% of sales are from the US.
