The company offers precision equipment for manufacturing, measuring, and testing microelectronic components, such as thin-film magnetic heads, photovoltaic solar cells, and semiconductor devices. Its deposition, etching, coating, and lapping and dicing systems are used to make semiconductors, data storage, and other products. The company is exploring applications in nanotechnology and the biosciences, but its focus is on the LED, solar, and data storage markets. LG Electronics represents 20% of sales. Veeco gets about three-quarters of its sales outside the US.
