United Surgical Partners International (USPI) brings together surgeons from across the US and the UK. The company owns or manages about 200 short-stay ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals in the US and another six medical facilities in the UK. The company creates centers from scratch, converts outpatient departments into stand-alone jointly run locations, and purchases existing facilities; contract management services are also available. USPI markets its facilities to patients, physicians, and insurance companies. Hospital operator Tenet acquired a majority stake in USPI for $425 million in 2015.
