TICC Capital Corp. (formerly Technology Investment Capital Corp.) spends most of its dough on high tech. Through a network of venture capital and private equity funds, investment banks, accounting and law firms, and company relationships, TICC invests in small and midsized private technology firms. Target acquisitions are software, Internet, IT services, media, telecommunications, semiconductor, and hardware service providers, although the company has flexibility to invest outside the tech sector. Founded in 2003, TICC commands approximately $325 million in total investments and concentrates on target firms with less than $200 million in annual revenues. Its investments range from $5 million to $30 million.
