TOP Ships (formerly TOP Tankers) is looking to rise through the ranks of the world's shipping companies. Operating a fleet of about a dozen double-hull tankers, Handymax vessels, TOP Ships transports refined petroleum products and crude oil on long- and short-term charters for oil companies and oil traders. Its tanker fleet has an overall carrying capacity of about 395,000 deadweight tons (DWT). The company also operates about half a dozen dry bulk carriers, which are used to carry cargo such as coal, grain, and iron ore and have an overall capacity of about 325,000 DWT. Along with his family, TOP Ship CEO Evangelos Pistiolis, and director George Economou own roughly 20% and 40% of the company, respectively.
