In the Missouri and Alabama, Spire (formerly The Laclede Group) is seeking to inspire its customers to use more natural gas. The group's main revenue source is its Gas Utility operations (Laclede Gas, Missouri Gas Energy, EnergySouth, and Alabama Gas) which distribute natural gas to 1.7 million customers in Missouri and Alabama. Spire's nonregulated businesses provide gas transportation and other services and operate underground gas storage fields. Operations include wholesale gas marketing (Laclede Energy Resources), a propane pipeline (Laclede Pipeline), insurance (Laclede Gas -- Family Services), and real estate development (Laclede Development).
