Its database and online tools are used to target sales operations, manage marketing campaigns, and measure the experience of the customer. It also performs survey and opinion research used to help pharmaceutical companies communicate more effectively with patients and physicians, and it monitors regulatory affairs affecting the health care industry. In early 2011, SDI agreed to be acquired by rival IMS Health.
