Premier Financial Bancorp is the holding company for a handful of rural and small-town banks in Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Its holdings include Citizens Deposit Bank, Farmers Deposit Bank, Ohio River Bank, and Premier Bank. Altogether, the banks have about 40 branches that offer standard deposit, trust, and lending services. The firm entered the DC area with the 2009 purchase of Adams National Bank for some $11 million. In 2011 the company combined five of its banks, including Adams National Bank, to create Premier Bank. It is now merging Farmers Deposit Bank and Ohio River Bank into Citizens Deposit Bank.
