Pratt & Whitney has let its customers slip the surly bonds of earth since 1925. The company, a division of United Technologies (UTC), manufactures and maintains commercial, military, and business jet engines. Pratt & Whitney also makes industrial gas turbines for power generation. Commercial air giants Airbus (about 35% of sales) and Boeing are Pratt & Whitney's largest commercial engine customers. Military offerings include engines for the F-22, F-15, F-16, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, and the C-17 Globemaster II military transport.
