More earthly than divine, Pope Resources owns or manages more than 150,000 acres of timberland and development property in Washington. Its holdings include the 70,000-acre Hood Canal and 44,000-acre Columbia tree farms in Washington. It sells its Douglas fir and other timber products mainly in the US, Japan, China, and Korea; Weyerhaeuser and Simpson Investment Company are major customers. Pope Resources also invests in and manages two timberland investment funds and provides investment management and consulting services to third-party timberland owners and managers in Washington, Oregon, and California. Its real estate unit acquires, develops, resells, and rents residential and commercial real estate.
