Pininfarina is an industrial design company that specializes in designing, engineering, and producing contract cars and car body parts. Pininfarina caters to such customers as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Honda, Rolls-Royce, Tata Motors, and Volvo. The company is involved in developing prototype vehicles, as well as in aerodynamic and aero-acoustic testing. Pininfarina primarily designs, tests, and builds cars and their components, while subsidiary Pininfarina Extra designs such products as telephones, coffee machines, watches, and wine bottles. The Pininfarina family controls the business and in late 2015 agreed to sell a 76% stake in the company to Mahindra and Mahindra for $185 million.
