To a lot of Californians, utility holding company PG&E Corporation is synonymous with power and gas. The company's venerable Pacific Gas and Electric unit serves more than 5.3 million electric customers and more than 4.4 million natural gas customers in Northern and Central California. The utility is also engaged in electricity generation; procurement and transmission; and natural gas procurement, transportation, and storage. All told the company's services reaches 16 million end users. In 2015 PG&E had power generating capacity (from fossil fuel, nuclear, and renewable sources) of 7,691 MW.
