If you can't fly to Aspen, Peak Resorts offers a closer alternative for weekend skiers and snowboarders in the Midwest and Northeast. The company operates a dozen ski resorts in six states - Indiana, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. Its two largest are Mount Snow in Vermont and Attitash in New Hampshire, which together account for half of the company's revenues. The Mount Snow resort also has two hotels, the Grand Summit and Snow Lake Lodge, and Attitash offers a Grand Summit hotel. The company counts about 1.7 million visitors every year to its resorts, which are open seasonally, generally from December to April. Peak Resorts filed a $40.2 million initial public offering in April 2011.
