What's in a name? That which we call a Swiss-based technology conglomerate: OC Oerlikon. Equipment for manufacturing textiles (via Barmag, Neumag, and Saurer businesses), large-scale thin-film solar modules, and protective coatings for precision tools (Balzers) are part of a slew of production systems and components that make the company a global high-tech giant. Oerlikon also develops equipment for conveying process gases and producing vacuums (Leybold Vacuum), various propulsion technologies, such as automotive drive systems and gear box workings (Graziano and Fairfield), as well as aerospace and production systems for nanotechnology applications. Customers include Bosch, CMC, Kraft, Ferrari, and Caterpillar.
