Metro One Telecommunications decided to hang up on the directory assistance business and give contact and data services a ring. The company's contact services unit provides businesses with telesales support and inbound customer service. Its data services unit provides listing data and services, offering such information as new mover data and historical telecommunications records. Metro One previously offered directory services on an outsourced basis, primarily for mobile phone operators, but mounting losses led it to exit that business in 2008.
