Two of its core candidates are being clinically tested for use in the treatment of severe asthma and multiple sclerosis. Others are being developed for preterm labor, interstitial cystitis (urinary frequency and bladder pain), and urinary incontinence. MediciNova has been building its development portfolio through licensing agreements, acquiring product rights primarily from midsized Japanese pharmaceutical companies such as Kissei Pharmaceutical, Kyorin Pharmaceutical, and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation.
