Operating through its Richmond American Homes subsidiary and several other units, the company is one of the largest homebuilders in Colorado, and is active in about a dozen other states in the West and East. The homebuilder targets first-time and move-up buyers and annually builds about 4,700 single-family detached homes that sell for an average price of $345,000. The company also constructs a limited number of luxury homes. Subsidiary HomeAmerican Mortgage provides loans to buyers of MDC's homes. MDC also has subsidiaries that offer homeowners and title insurance.
