MaxLinear provides integrated radio-frequency (RF) and mixed-signal semiconductor receivers used to receive and translate analog or digital radio, television, and other broadband signals into visual images. Its products, which are used in cable TV set-top boxes, digital TVs, and mobile phones, are sold to module makers, OEMs, and original design manufacturers (ODMs) such as ARRIS, Cisco, and Toshiba. Nearly all sales are to Asian customers. In 2015, MaxLinear bought Entropic Communications, another chip design company, for $287 million.
