While whooping cranes head south for the winter, Manitowoc cranes stay up north all year round. The Manitowoc Crane Group makes up the largest part of the Manitowoc Co.'s business, some 60% of the parent's total sales, by manufacturing and distributing a range of crawler cranes. The group has evolved though the acquisitions of Potain (tower cranes), Grove, Shuttlelift, and Dongyue (mobile telescopic cranes), and National Crane (hydraulic telescoping cranes). Core markets for the Group are energy and utilities, infrastructure (road and airport construction), as well as commercial and residential building. Under the Crane Care brand, Manitowoc Crane sells maintenance and repair, and parts supply service.
