Lifecore Biomedical, Inc.
Lifecore Biomedical aims to help bodies plump up, smooth out, and keep moving. Lifecore manufactures hyaluronan, a natural lubricating compound found in animal and human connective tissues. The hyaluronan is then turned into products used in ophthalmic surgeries, during bone grafting, as pain treatments for osteoarthritis, and in veterinary orthopedics. Hyaluronan might eventually be used in cosmetic procedures as a dermal filler (to smooth out wrinkles). Lifecore has supply agreements with Alcon to use its hyaluronan solution in cataract surgery products. Landec Corporation acquired Lifecore in 2010.
