Leucadia National has found beef and investment highly lucrative. The holding company owns stakes in a variety of firms involved in manufacturing, medical products, gaming, and beef processing. The investment firm typically seeks out troubled companies that it believes are undervalued. Some of its largest holdings include the National Beef Packaging Company; global securities and investment bank Jefferies Group; Leucadia Asset Management; HomeFed Corporation; a 50% stake in Berkadia Commercial Mortgage; Idaho Timber; and Conwed Plastics, among others. It also has interests in gold and silver mining companies, telecommunication services business in Italy, and automobile dealerships.
