Kindred Healthcare, Inc.
Families unable to provide 24-hour care to their kin can at least turn to Kindred Healthcare. As a leading provider of long-term health care, Kindred operates about 100 transitional care hospitals, 20 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, 90 nursing centers, 20 sub-acute units, and 600 home health, hospice, and non-medical home care centers throughout the US. Its Kindred's RehabCare business provides contract rehabilitation therapy services at more than 1,700 facilities. Its facilities have a combined capacity of about 20,000 beds and span 47 states. In 2015 the company bought Gentiva Health Services in a $1.8 billion transaction; the deal nearly doubled Kindred's size.
