Johnson Matthey is truly a golden oldie. The company, founded in 1817, is a leader in the refining and distribution of gold, silver, and platinum group metals (about 60% of sales). It is the sole marketing arm for Anglo American Platinum, through its Precious Metal Products division. Johnson Matthey's Emission Control Technologies division produces emission control products, fuel cells, and process catalysts; and Process Technologies division is a global supplier of catalysts and licensing technologies. Its Fine Chemicals division makes base and precious metals catalysts and chemicals as well as active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) sold to pharmaceuticals manufacturers.
