The land where the tall corn grows is also the land of Iowa Health System (IHS), which does business as UnityPoint. The integrated health care system operates some 15 acute care hospitals that serve large communities throughout Iowa, as well as parts of western Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin. UnityPoint also supports about a dozen rural hospitals, and it manages about 300 physician clinics located in rural and suburban areas. The system's hospitals provide general medical-surgical care, as well as care in a number of medical specialties such as cardiovascular disease and home health services. Founded in 1993, UnityPoint has about 3,700 licensed beds.
