It's a bird … it's a plane … no, it's a geostationary earth orbit satellite network operated by Inmarsat that enables critical voice and data communications services on land, in the air, and at sea. Via this network of 11 satellites, the company (original name: International Marine Satellite Communications Organization) offers mobile voice, e-mail, Internet, VPN, and videoconferencing, among other services, for use primarily by maritime, aeronautical, and fleet industries in North America and Europe. Inmarsat sells its service through a global network of distribution partners.
