HopFed Bancorp is the holding company for Heritage Bank (formerly Hopkinsville Federal Savings Bank), which started operations in 1879 as a building and loan association. The bank has about a dozen branches in southwestern Kentucky, with its market area extending into northwestern Tennessee. It offers standard products like checking, savings, money market, and NOW accounts, as well as CDs, IRAs, property/casualty insurance, and annuities. One- to four-family residential mortgages account for about 40% of its loan portfolio. To a lesser extent, Heritage Bank also writes multifamily residential, construction, commercial, and consumer loans. Directors and executives control 12% of the bank.
