Through subsidiary Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Heritage Insurance Holdings offers personal residential insurance for single-family homeowners and condominium owners in Florida. The company gets the bulk of its revenues by selectively assuming policies from Florida-insurer Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, via a state-sponsored “depopulation program” which is designed to reduce Florida's risk exposure by encouraging private companies to assume insurance policies from Citizens. It also writes policies outside the Citizens depopulation program, referred to as voluntary policies. Heritage Insurance went public in May 2014.
