Gulf Resources, Inc.
If your principal raw material is salt water, Gulf Resources might just be the perfect name. Using brine or salt water, the company produces bromine (#1 in China), used primarily for flame retardants and water purification, and salt, a bi-product of bromine production. Its production capacity is 34,000 tons of bromine and 300,000 tons of crude salt per year. The minerals account for a majority of sales; chemical companies are Gulf Resources' main bromine and salt customers. The company also produces chemical compounds used in oil and gas production and in paper making. Its major chemical division customers include SINOPEC and China National Petroleum. Chairman Ming Yang owns about 40% of Gulf Resources.
