The company develops therapies targeting estrogens and androgens for prostate cancer and other diseases in the arena of men's health. GTx is developing a potential therapy that could be useful in treating side effects of androgen-deprivation therapy (a treatment for advanced prostate cancer) including osteoporosis and hot flashes. Another candidate could prevent men who have been identified with certain precancerous conditions from developing prostate cancer. To fund its work, GTx sells Fareston, a drug for metastatic breast cancer.
