Mining company Gold Resource aims to produce gold and other minerals from projects where operating costs are low. The company focuses on its El Aguila project in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. The El Aguila project, which began in 2010 at a shallow, open-pit mine, now includes an underground mine, La Arista. The deposit being mined at El Aguila includes not only gold and silver, but also copper, lead, and zinc. In addition to its primary operations, the company has interests in exploration properties in Oaxaca. Gold Resource was formed in 1998.
