Going for liquefied natural gas? So is Golar. With a fleet of about a dozen vessels, Golar LNG provides marine transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG). (Liquefaction plants, located near major gas deposits, cool natural gas in order to reduce its volume so it can be efficiently transported by sea.) Most of Golar's revenue comes from deploying its fleet on time charters, or long-term contracts, to major LNG producers. Three customers, UK-based BG Group, Royal Dutch Shell, and Indonesia's Pertamina, together account for more than three-quarters of the company's revenue. Golar also charters vessels on the spot market. Its fleet has an overall capacity of more than 1.7 million cu. meters.
