Sanswire isn't known for a down-to-earth approach to product development. The company (formerly known as GlobeTel Communications) is developing airship "stratellites" (essentially blimps equipped with wireless gear that float in the stratosphere) to enable its planned wireless broadband network. Other intended uses for Sanswire's unmanned aerial vehicles include security and surveillance (Skysat) and payload transport and delivery (PADD). The company is developing its products in conjunction with Stuttgart, Germany-based TAO Technologies GmbH.
