General Motors Financial Company, Inc.
General Motors Financial Company (better known as GM Financial) is the in-house auto financing arm of General Motors, and has access to more than 80% of its parent's global sales. It works with more than 18,000 GM dealers worldwide to offer new- and used-vehicle financing services (including auto leases) for consumers and dealerships through offices in the US and Canada, as well as nearly 20 other countries in Europe and Latin America. Founded in 1992 as AmeriCredit, the company traditionally provided credit to customers with less-than-ideal credit histories. Today, GM Financial's portfolio consists of $33 billion in prime and sub-prime auto loans and various commercial dealer loans.
