Black gold on the deep blue generates the green for Gener8 Maritime (formerly General Maritime). A leading operator of mid-sized tankers, it transports crude oil and refined petroleum products, mainly in the Atlantic Basin but also in the Black Sea. Its fleet of 25 operational double-hull tankers includes 11 Suezmax, 4 Aframax, 2 Panamax, 1 Handymax, (totaling 4.5 million DWT) and 21 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) under contract to be built. Gener8 Maritime deploys its vessels on the spot market (short term/single voyage) and under long-term charter. Customers include major oil companies Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Exxon Mobil. General Maritime merged with Navig8 Crude Tankers and went public in 2015.
