The upstart company is riding the next wave in mobile ringtone technology beyond just audio clips with video clips that users can upload to their phones. Subscribers of Vringo's service can browse and purchase content from its Web site, which houses a library of more than 4,000 video ringtones, as well as tools to create, customize, and share them through social media networks. The company reaches subscribers through partnerships with certain mobile carriers in Armenia, Malaysia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, with hopes to establish more throughout the world. Vringo filed to go public in January 2010.
