Flint Hills Resources has more than a spark of interest in fuel production. The company, a unit of Koch Industries, is a major producer of fuels, base oils for lubricants, and chemicals and polymers. It has stakes in crude oil marketing, transportation, and storage activities in Canada. It has refineries in Alaska, Minnesota, and Texas, that have a total processing capacity of more than 670,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Flint Hills has associated marketing activities and petrochemical production and trading businesses. It markets gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, heating oil, and other fuels, and owns stakes in common carrier pipelines. The company also produces 550 million gallons of ethanol a year.
