Educational Development Corporation (EDC) likes being in a bind, as long as the cover appeals to youngsters. The company is the exclusive US distributor of a line of about 1,500 children's books published by the UK's Usborne Publishing Limited. EDC's Home Business Division markets the books to individuals using independent sales reps who sell through personal websites, home parties, direct sales, and book fairs; this division also distributes books to public and school libraries. EDC's Publishing Division distributes the Usborne line to a network of book, toy, and other retail stores. EDC bought multi-cultural children's book publisher Kane/Miller in 2008 to complement its product offerings.
