Looking to eclipse its oil and gas rivals, Eclipse Resources is an independent exploration and production company active in the Appalachian Basin. It has 227,230 net acres in Eastern Ohio, including 96,240 net acres in the most prolific and economic area of the Utica Shale fairway (Utica Core Area), with 25,740 net acres targeted as a highly liquids-rich area in the Marcellus Shale in Eastern Ohio (Marcellus Project Area). Eclipse operates 81% of its net acreage within the Utica Core and Marcellus Project areas. In 2014 the company reported estimated proved reserves of 109.6 billion cu. ft. equivalent, and 18.3 million barrels of oil equivalent. It went public in June of that year.
