This Citadel aspires not to turn boys into men, but to turn cash into, well, more cash. The Citadel investment group includes Citadel Securities, which accounted for around 14% of the 2012 daily trading activity at the NYSE and NASDAQ. Because of this high volume, the company also acts as a market maker for equity options and for some blue-chip stocks on smaller exchanges. It manages some $17 billion of assets for institutional and high-net-worth investors, as well as on its own account. Citadel also provides investment banking and institutional trading.
