They say baking soda has plenty of household uses, but soda ash provides even more. OCI Resources operates a soda ash mining and production plant in Wyoming that annually produces about 2.5 million short tons of the raw material used in flat glass, container glass, detergents, chemicals, paper, and other consumer and industrial products. OCI Resources sells most of its soda ash to export firm American Natural Soda Ash Corporation (ANSAC). Organized as a limited partnership, OCI Resources is exempt from paying federal income tax. The company is a subsidiary of OCI Chemical, which actually owns the plant. It went public in 2013, raising $95 million, which it returned to OCI Chemical.
