Centerra Gold Inc
Centerra Gold will go great distances to get gold. Operating mainly in Central Asia and the former Soviet Union, the mining and exploration company produces about 640,000 ounces of gold annually, and its gold reserves total 8.1 million ounces. Its two operating mines, Boroo (Mongolia) and Kumtor (Kyrgyz Republic), account for almost all of Centerra's production and are its major assets. Centerra is exploring properties adjacent to its mines, as well as in China, Russia, the US, and Turkey. Joint venture projects include the Kara Beldyr property in Russia and the Öksüt property in Turkey. Uranium producer Cameco spun off its gold business to form Centerra in 2004. The Kyrgyz government now owns a 33% stake.
