The retail chain sells western wear, including men's and women's cowboy boots and hats, western-style shirts and denim apparel, belts and belt buckles, luggage, gifts, and other accessories, in 50-plus Cavender's and Cavender's Work and Western Outlet stores mostly in Texas, but also in the neighboring states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. For those who can't make it to Texas and want to look like they did, the company operates an online store. Founded in 1965 by president and CEO James Cavender, the Cavender family (including wife, Pat, and sons, Joe, Mike, and Clay) owns and operates the company.
