Capital Southwest Corporation
Just don't call it a private equity firm. Capital Southwest owns significant minority stakes in around 30 companies, many of them in Texas. The business development company (BDC) offers growth capital, recapitalization and acquisition financing, and funding for management buyouts, to companies in a variety of industries. It typically invests between $5 million to $15 million per transaction in target firms, which do not include troubled companies, startups, oil and gas exploration companies, real estate developments, or other less-than-stable ventures. The company is also focused on investments in the US, especially firms located in the Southwest, Southeast, Midwest, and Mountain regions.
