CPS Technologies makes thermal management components for electronics using aluminum silicon carbide (ALSiC) metal matrix composites. Products include substrates, baseplates, and heat spreaders that are used by customers in motor controller and wireless communications component applications. CPS is working with the US Army on using its composite technology in armor for military vehicles. The company also licenses its technology to other manufacturers; revenue from licenses and royalties, however, has dwindled away to virtually nothing. CPS Technologies makes more than two-thirds of its sales to locations outside the US, although the majority of its customers are actually based in the US.
