Burren Energy has burrowed into some political hotspots in search of oil and gas. The exploration and production independent has core producing assets in Turkmenistan in Central Asia, and in West Africa's Republic of Congo. The company manages and operates an eight-vessel Caspian Sea-based tanker fleet dedicated to shipping its own and third-party crude oil production and refined products from countries adjacent to the Caspian Sea to markets worldwide. Burren Energy also has secured a license to explore in Egypt, and in 2005 it acquired 26% of India's Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. (HOEC). Burren has proved and probable reserves of about 146 million barrels (entitlement basis).
